Joe Blanton Official Blog - June 28, 2008 - Rumor Has It

Joe Blanton (bio) talks about all the trade rumors that was flying around near the trade deadline in 2008.  At that time Blanton was part of the Oakland A’s organization.  Ironically Blanton finishes his post by stating, “Hopefully, though, I’ll stick around (with the Oakland A’s).  I like this team a lot.”  Of course, just a few weeks later, the Philadelphia Phillies acquired Joe Blanton from the A’s and then went on to win the World Series.

It’s about that time of year when my name starts popping up in trade rumors, so I figured you might want to know my thoughts on the whole deal. It’s obviously not the first year my name’s come up, so I’m pretty used to it by now. I think this is Year Three of “Joe’s Gonna Get Traded” talk before the deadline.

I probably used to pay a little more attention to it, but I think my Dad — his name’s Joey — keeps up with it more than I do.
